Our guest this week on the Making It Real Podcast is Karen Pattock — a business coach that specializes in email list building and client enrollment using wellness workshops. You might know Karen as one of the co-hosts of the Wellness Business Podcast.
As a coach herself, Karen is truly in the trenches with the rest of us right now. In this interview, we discussed how to deal with a less-than-stellar “launch” (of a program, offering, etc.)
How do you recover from putting something out there – only for it to be the totally WRONG time?
Essentially, how do you recover from a total flop?
We discuss where to go from here, how long to wait before relaunching, and whether or not you should re-work the strategy entirely.
Show Notes:
2:47 – The silver lining of Covid-19: Health and wellness has never been more at the forefront of the conversation for the entire world.
“I think that there's an opportunity [to] not just to grow their business, but really be that support system that so many people need in the world right now.”
9:45 – Why your failures aren’t actually “failures”
“I never look at anything like a flop or a failure, I always look at it like, "Okay, we tried this, it didn't work. What kind of information can we get out of this and what can we do differently next time?"
11:00 – don’t fall into the line of thinking that you’re “just capitalizing” on the covid-19 pandemic.
"Listen, if I have something that is going to help someone… then I have a responsibility to get that out there. To let them decide. We're not deciding for them. We're placing an offer out into the world and they're deciding. We're not forcing anyone to buy. Please do not fall into this line of thinking where it's, "I'm just capitalizing on this."
14:19 – 5 ways you can generate revenue right now
16:47 – Why you shouldn’t do coaching on discovery calls
19:03 – the purpose of the discovery call (and what not to do during the discovery call)
19:37 – Finding your “zone of genius”
23:09 – how to upsell to your hottest leads
24:55 – create something brand new.
“I have heard so many stories lately of clients that have put together programs in literally 24 to 48 hours. They have done things over a weekend. They have just went in and did it. And I'll tell you, many of the clients that I'm talking about has said, "You know what? This was not nearly as labor intensive as I thought it was going to be. I don't know why I waited so darn long to do this."
